Zozodo Gemstone Consultancy and Mining has launched an impact campaign called “End Gender-Based Violence Against Women and Girls in Mining.” This awareness and fundraising effort comes as violence against female miners remains prevalent across societies.
We are selling calendars, jewelry made from Malawian gemstones, t-shirts and other items to support programs empowering women in mining communities with entrepreneurship training and skills development. This enables economic independence and leadership to counteract systemic marginalization.
Donation funding will provide free workshops for women and girls on gemstone value addition, jewelry production, quarry business management, gemstone identification/grading, artisanship, leadership skills, and related training. More education and vocational opportunities can drive progress on equality.
We call on partners across sectors to contribute to the campaign by purchasing merchandise or donating directly. Together, we can advance gender equity in mining and eliminate the exploitation of women. Supporting this campaign enables new futures free from vulnerability to violence
